England Lockdown: Can I Still Get a SMART Repair?

As the new lockdown rules come into force in England today, you may ask yourself what this means for tradespeople working outside your home. If you are due to have a repair soon, you will need to understand the government advice and safety measures in place.

The government has confirmed that in England, tradespeople including car repair specialists, can continue to work safely.

FAQs: Can a SMART repair specialist work on my driveway?

Yes. Tradespeople including car repair specialists can continue to work safely on your driveway or in one of our Car Care Centres. Our repair specialists are following government safety advice to create a safe environment for everyone. Mobile specialists can complete car body repairs on your driveway, so there is no need for you to leave the house.

These safety measures include but are not limited to:

Mobile Specialists:

  1. Specialists can estimate your repair, and book appointments online or over the phone.
  2. Your local specialist will text or call you when they arrive, so that all you have to do is leave the keys out and navigate us to a power outlet from a safe distance.
  3. They will wear masks, gloves and coveralls when appropriate.
  4. They can disinfect/wipe over areas they come into contact with.
  5. Where possible specialists will operate on a paper-free basis, meaning cashless payment, and online invoices etc.
  6. ChipsAway specialists will always maintain a safe two-metre distance.
  7. Specialists will disinfect your keys before they hand them back to you.

  • Always maintain a two-metre distance between you and the specialist while they are at your property.
  • Let your specialist know if you or a member of your household begins to develop symptoms of coronavirus so that the appointment can be rearranged for a suitable date and time when it is safe to do so.
